This 1976 Porsche 911 Turbo is the culmination of an extensive, multi-year restoration with meticulous attention to detail throughout. Inspired by the famous IROC series 911’s that featured some of the best drivers of the day, Donahue, Fittipaldi, Revson and others. Vin #9306700339 is number 339 of 623 ROW 930’s produced for the Belgium/Luxemburg market. Extremely well documented, it comes complete with matching chassis and engine numbers and believed to be original transmission. Purchased by the current owner in 1998, #339 has undergone a full bare metal, cosmetic and complete mechanical restoration. The odometer currently reads 72,589 miles, TMU. This 930 comes with all records and a photo documentation of the build as well as a Porsche COA letter. #339 was a Porsche Club of America Concours de Elegance vintage 911 class winner in 2010 and 2011.
To handle this increased performance Bilstein Yellow Sport shocks have been added with gusseted front struts for increased rigidity and 22/30 Sway Way torsion bars. A bump steer kit (as detailed below) was installed along with all of the suspension components powder coated in either satin black or aluminum silver for correctness. Brakes have been up rated to fully rebuilt 928S4 calipers in front and ‘79 930 rear calipers that have been machined to fit the ‘76 rear trailing arms. New stainless steel brake lines round out the binders.
The 3.0 litre flat 6 received a complete teardown and conversion to twin plug and recently, a top end rebuild from Eurotech Advanced Automotive was undertaken. Highlights of the engine rebuild included 993 super sport cams, Garrett GT30R Turbo, 964 inter-cooler, 3.3 liter intake manifold. RarlyL8 equal length headers and RarlyL8 GT3 tail style tail pipe were also added. Nothing was overlooked and the end results show in the recent Dyno testing where the cars output was measured at 362 HP and 339 lbs of torque to the rear wheels. Driving improvements abound with a complete $9k rebuild of the transmission and the addition of a Guard Transmission LSD, as well as custom Guard Transmission gearing. Improved shifting comes via a Wevo billet aluminum shifter and Stomski shift coupler. A new Sachs Sport clutch and CV joints with powder-coated axels was fitted. On closer inspection you will really discover just how much detail lies underneath and the pride that has been taken in the restoration and stewardship. In August, 2005 a full bare metal restoration of the body commenced. Over 2000 hours were invested in the car, which was repainted in Porsche Maritime Blue, LM5A using PPG Evirobase. All work carried out by a very reputable paint shop in MA. Two coats of High Velocity Clear coat were also part of the 95 hour process of body work. The undercarriage was detailed in flat black. To achieve the IROC look a set of Getty glass bumpers were installed with the front housing along with a large B&B oil cooler. Again extra attention to detail was paid, by powder-coating the wiper arms, gas cap and even the fuel filler neck and latch plus much more.
The interior has had tasteful and professional work done to insure a timeless look of quality. Just few of the updates include a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, Rennline pedals, new Perlon RS rear seat delete carpet set and Rennline track mats. A new headliner, RS door panels with blue pulls complete the look. Additionally all of the factory leather trim pieces have been either replaced or have been freshly dyed. The gauges were all refreshed, recalibrated and tested by North Hollywood Speedometer. Seats are adjustable Recaro SRD. Hifi courtesy of Nakamichi and ADS for the analog old school sound.
A custom made set of Fiske FM10 wheels in 8.5 and 10 inch x17 were purchased new and shod with brand new Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires.
